Today we’re going to do is we will they’ll be talking about the power of Fringe Minutes.
We had our first baby 5 months ago and we’re elated and so incredibly thrilled. Everyday is a new challenge because I’m while I work a full-time job, I’m also playing “Daddy Day Care” while running a business at night! So how and more importantly when do I get anything done? That’s where the power of Fringe Minutes come into play. When you have 3 minutes here, 2 minutes here, 45 seconds there…can we leverage that time to actually get anything done! Sure we can!
The first issue is to know what to do with these Fringe Minutes.
For me, there’s many things I can get done with just a few minutes here or there. I can work on community outreach, I can reach out for more podcast guests, etc. Now on the other hand there are activities that are literally impossible to accomplish with Fringe Minutes. That’s where block time comes into play when Quinn goes to bed (hopefully) and I can focus on the creative, longer projects. So the first issue is finding what activities you can do that only takes a minute or two.
The second issue is energy.
Oftentimes when we have a moment or two, we like to both mentally and physically check out. A few minutes on the Starbucks line is sometimes welcomed when you’re exhausted! So ultimately you need to be cognizant of your sleep, diet and what breaks you’re planning throughout the day. For me I take a few minutes when Ashley gets home from work to just veg, sit and say nothing! I’m ready for that and don’t necessarily need a break until then. So when I have a minute or two throughout the day, I’m ready to get to work!
So what can you do during these “micro down times”? Is there any work or projects you can make progress towards? Are there appointments you can make or tasks to knock out? It always comes back to planning and scheduling!
