Choices, Decisions and Patterns…

sound like very important parts of an equation that can have serious impact. You’re right! They are.

But how they work together is even more important.

The CDP framework is at the heart of every major or minor shift in your life. It’s literally where the rubber meets the road. You can have the perfect ideal day laid out in front of you with every goal and domain set to take action on but if we don’t end up following through, we’ll never get there. So the CDP framework is a simple process to help you see the somewhat hidden choices, make better decisions and create more positive patterns. Let’s dig into each section…

CHOICES

A choice is fairly simple.

To practice guitar or not.

To eat the cake or not.

To smoke or not

To follow my Ritual Design or not. The difficult thing about a choice is getting out of our subconscious and being able to see the choice before we actually make the decision. This is the first step to “interrupt” our behavior. Often times this takes a trigger in place to knock us off auto pilot. Once we’re able to see the choices we have we can have the dialogue of what we should be really doing.

Sometimes the choice is so hidden because we never thought it was possible to achieve what we wanted to in the first place.

DECISIONS

A decision is something that has happened in the past. Once you’ve decided to do something, it already is done. But that doesn’t me the event has occurred…

A decision can mean an absolute commitment no matter what where you cut yourself off from all other possibilities. The issue that can arise is that we will still be presented with the choice sometime in the future.

But ultimately you can preemptively decide and take your power back!

PATTERNS

The patterns that arise from our endless decisions we make daily is the result. Whether it be positive or negative, they’re simply a reflection of the actions we take. Please note this is not a habit and certainly not an addiction BUT…if the pattern continues long enough they can certainly result in a habit or addiction.

There is a way this framework all fits together. You see, if you begin to realize that you are RESPONSE – ABLE (sound familiar…) we can begin to see the choices we have more clearly, make better decisions and develop better patterns. If we reverse the order and we have a negative pattern that is developing, we have to decide up front to make a change. When the choice presents itself you’re that much more equipped!

In this episode I mentioned David Goggins. You’ll either love him or hate him but he is someone who has mastered this framework!
