The problem with consistency (I drank 50 beers….)
Let me explain.
Last summer we had a celebration of life party for my mom here at the house. It was beautiful and we have quite a bit of people show up.
We also had a lot of food…and a lot of alcohol. I never learn my lesson and I always buy way too much alcohol.
So of course we were left with an entire fridge full of beer. I literally had to take shelves out of my downstairs fridge in order to fit it all in.
I didn’t have a plan for the beer. I just figured I’d save it and maybe if we have some friends over we can make a dent or whatever.
So I found myself after a few weeks just randomly grabbing a beer with dinner or grabbing a couple after a hard day doing yard work. In only about 3 months I looked in the fridge and terrified, realized I was down to the last beer!
The problem with consistency is that it’s easy to be consistent with bad things and hard to be consistent with the good things. It’s easy to watch movies, smoke a cigar, or eat the ice cream. It’s hard to put in the hours on your side hustle, practice the guitar and organize your office.
I would have never drank 50 beers in compressed amount of time like a week (or even a month)! But they were there and over time…THE DAMAGE WAS STILL DONE!
So ultimately the question is…
What problem with consistency do you have?
What are the things that are slipping by that are having a negative impact in your life?
What are some of the things that would be beneficial to be a little more consistent with?!
